Nefty Records is excited to announce the new single from Cape Town based singer-songwriter and actor Elton Jansen, entitled Wil Djy?, An exciting upbeat radio-friendly Afrikaans praise song featuring David J and Neville D.
“Wil Djy? is a song I wrote almost 18 years ago. I wanted to express myself in a way so that the people where I come from can identify with the song and the way we speak on the Cape Flats and not feel inferior about it. On the Cape Flats we have our own special way of pronouncing words and “Djy” is one of them,” says Elton Jansen.
Jansen hopes that listeners to Wil Djy? will be inspired to be authentic and original. “Worship is a lifestyle and I believe GOD is only interested in authentic worship. You need not copy anyone to impress God,” says Jansen. Wil Djy? is also a song of celebration, echoing Jansen’s favourite scripture Psalm 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
“Elton Jansen is not only profoundly anointed, but he is very professional and truly understands that his job as a worship leader is to point people to Christ,” says producer and featured artist, Neville D.
Music has always been an integral part of Elton Jansen’s life, inspired musically by the sounds of Neville D, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, William McDowell, The Winans and Israel Houghton. An experienced performer, singing in church since the age of 15, Elton Jansen went on to share the stage with multi award winning artists Josh Groban, Diana Ross and Neville D. Jansen has also toured the major cities of South Africa extensively and performed internationally in Oslo, Norway.
Jansen believes that through the God-given messages penned in music, God is truly able to change and bring comfort to the lives of those who spend time in worship. “I wrote a song that paid homage to God and my mother and heard several stories of how people identify with growing up in a single parent household and how God had brought them through to be the man or woman they are today, by the grace of God. Testimonies like these always inspire me to continue creating music,” concludes Jansen.
